How to Extract a File Extension
09/26/2010 00:00:00

File extensions such as RAR, ZIP and 7Z are archive files that store other files within themselves. You'll have to use an archive program or website to extract the compressed files you want if they've been stored inside of these file extensions. Files are initially compressed into archive formats to make them easier to store and transport between computers and other devices.

Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions1

Download and install WinZIP (see Resources). Double-click the archive file extension, and WInzip loads and shows the files inside of the archive. Drag and drop them to your computer desktop to fully extract them.

2

Download and install WinRAR (see Resources). Right-click the file and select "Extract here" to extract the files into the folder the archive is in.

3

Navigate to Wobzip (see Resources). Click "Browse" to upload your file. Click "WobziP" to create a link to each of the extracted files. Click the links to download them.
